Food and drinks that you would never assume contains gluten
If you have a condition like Crohn’s disease and you must avoid gluten, consider this food you should avoid, which you would never assume contains:
1) Pickles
In the fermentation process used for cucumbers some forms of barley malt vinegar are used which, unlike others, are not distilled which means that gluten is still present in the final product.
2) Wings and other sausages
If the label does not indicate that they do not have gluten, then do not assume that they do not. Although the recipes for these products vary, many include bread crumbs.
3) French fries
Unless you make it yourself but order it in a sandwich or restaurant, you can never be sure that other products like onion rings, chicken nuggets, fish pieces or any other food coated in the fridge were never fried, unless the restaurant has no fries designed exclusively for gluten-free food.
